What Perfume Are You Wearing?

My five-year-old comes outside to see me and her dad talking at the picnic table in the backyard. She sits down with the thoughtful look on her face and says, "Mom we're like a little model of God." I knew she was right. God made us in his image. We should look like our daddy God in every way- especially the way that we care and love for one another. No truer words have ever been spoken. It reminds me of when I took a Disney cruise with my two kids a couple of years ago. When you enter the registration building to get your name tag, you see a 3 foot x 1 foot model of the cruise ship that you're going to be on. You look closer at the model and it has the exact number of lifeboats and smokestacks and state rooms that the real boat has. It would be disappointing to find out that the model is exactly the opposite of the real boat.

------ It also reminds me of my tiny little two-month-old son. The other day we were at a graduation party and there was literally a line of moms and grandmas that wanted to hold him. Eight or nine women throughout the night held him between feedings. At the end of the night I got him back and he had a really interesting smell on him. He smelled like eight or nine different women's perfumes! After he had been cuddled all night by different people he had started to smell like them! The Bible says that we are the "Aroma of Christ" to the world (2 Corinthians 2:15). How often do people pick up the "smell" of God off us?

----- So maybe we should be asking ourselves "Are we being models of God? " do you people look at us and think they are going to be disappointed with the real thing? Do we have the smell of God on us? I know the best perfume I could ever wear is the aroma of Christ love, and the best part is- it's free!
